A woman - the artist - drives alone in her car while contemplating ideas such as belonging, loneliness, independence, creativity, and wonders how to make a movie while she is isolated on the island. Seeking answers to her questions, she quotes ideas and opinions from women in the field of cinema and literature, such as Claudia Rankine, Zadie Smith, Sally Rooney, Chantal Akerman, Agnès Varda, and Trinh T. Minh-ha and other. When the ride is over, a new conversation unfolds, this time inside a house where Diane, one of the islanders, talks about her passion for icebergs. The problem with all three is an historical one. There is a strong conviction in the history of photography and painting demonstrated in 'Falling into Whispers and Kisses'. The exhibition draws the viewer, indeed allures them, into a discreet feminine discourse, a constellation of subjects that question representation, desire and taboo with genuine personality, humour and wit. The work harnesses bodily subjects: natural or artificial. Whether animate or inanimate, they are imbued with a preconceived sense of movement. Carefully arranged, they are objects laden with the autobiographical and universal narrative of women. In A la Crète, three sculptural forms inspired by the Minoan storage pithoi of the Phaistos palace are overlaid with images drawn from a French travel brochure from the 1990s/ The work interweaves the circulation of material goods with the circulation of images, transforming the pithos from a vessel of storage into a carrier of visual exchange. The pithos becomes à surface of inscription where archaeological form and tourist iconography coexist. The photographs cease to function as ephemeral promotional material and instead acquire the permanence of sculptural objects, while the pithos comes to carry images rather than goods. The work traces the routes through which forms circulate, are reproduced and acquire new meanings, proposing place as the outcome of recurrent processes of inscription, circulation and signification.
